Our aim to reduce waste and live more sustainably is demonstrated in The Groundwork Shop based at South Shields Recycling Village. A partnership between South Tyneside Council and South Tyneside Homes, is helping achieve this goal through the provision of a FREE collection service for bulky household items, within South Tyneside – Together, we are powering the circular economy.
Don’t Dump it, Donate it
Recycle your old household items by giving them a second lease-of-life in our our community shop. We collect quality, second hand; furniture, appliances, electrical goods and children’s items, with our free pick-up service.

Quality Goods at Affordable Prices
We’re committed to making recycling easy and accessible for everyone, which is why we provide the free collection and delivery service to people living in South Tyneside. Donated items are cleaned, checked and PAT tested (if necessary), before going on sale in The Groundwork Shop.
Our community Shop not only sells good quality second-hand items, but also new and unopened products such as quality interior and exterior paints, sold at greatly reduced prices.
Many items are displayed on The Groundwork Shop Facebook Page, simply call and reserve anything you choose, pay in store later.
