MOVE FORWARD: is a flexible holistic careers support programme providing participants with an introductory pathway, to develop the right skills to thrive into the expansion of a greener economy – it will focus on engagement, progression and sustainment.
Funded through TVCA UK SPF until March 2025.
Through a person-centred approach, people take part in a journey of support and activities through three key thematic areas: Health and Wellbeing, The Green Economy and Employment and Skills
The aim of the programme is to work with residents to increase their knowledge, understanding and access to green skills, encouraging a fit for purpose labour force, whilst addressing barriers and improving their health and well-being.
Move Forward will increase their confidence, raise aspirations, and help them realise their full potential moving into sustainable employment; all of this while increasing awareness of the green agenda and connecting them to their local community and local green spaces. We also aim to reduce the demand for mental health services and GP services, and to create opportunities for more sustainable community-based provision.
We will do this with a mix of traditional information advice and guidance employability support, opportunity to take part in social action, identifying peer support, interactive workshops and sign posting into specialist services and existing skills support. This programme will take a preventative approach; focus will be on developing a low carbon – green skills workforce, enabling local people to understand the requirements for this industry.
Staff have also engaged with 50 Residents in Redcar who completed our Multiply Carbon Sense Sessions – 16 progressing in to Learning and 8 into volunteering
Move Forward works with people who are short term sick (less than 12 months), retired or have care responsibilities. Delivering green social action projects along side wellbeing activities.
