Situated in the heart of rural North Somerset, just south of Bristol, Goblin Combe is a limestone gorge set in 130 acres of natural woodland. Open to the public 365 days of the a year, Goblin Combe is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) as designated by Natural England.
Join us for a fun and inspiring outdoor learning experience
Across our beautiful woodland we have over 6km of marked trails that will take you over craggy outcrops, flower-rich grassland, and rich limestone heath. Originally purchased by North Somerset Council to protect and safeguard the woodland for the benefit of the community, this unique place will capture your imagination and wonder, providing the ideal setting for stunning strolls in unspoiled countryside. It’s also a fantastic setting for outdoor learning, restoring self-confidence, and exploration and discovery for young and old alike.
Immerse yourself in nature with one of our accommodation options
At our outdoor learning centre on the edge of the woodland, we have a comfortable 38-bedroom purpose-built lodge, a Grade 2 listed cottage, complete with a fully equipped kitchen and communal living, meeting or dining area, a 10-person yurt, an outdoor classroom, and an 8-acre camping field.
After a period of closure, we reopened our site in spring 2022, and have since hosted a wide range of hirers – from school and community groups, to uniformed youth organisations, DofE expeditions, wellbeing courses, special interest groups and private hirers – all making use of the facilities and indoor and outdoor spaces on offer. We also offer opportunities for corporate volunteering days, with a range of hands-on activities around the site and in the woodland, including woodland conservation.
More information on our site and wider woodland is available on the Goblin Combe website, at www.goblincombe.org.uk; and you can also get the latest updates via Facebook here.
Goblin Combe is one of several outdoor learning centres run by Groundwork South, where groups can have a breadth of inspirational learning and development experiences. We find that everyone thrives and thinks more creatively in an outdoor setting. Everyone benefits from being better connected with the natural environment, and it helps to improve the health and wellbeing of all those involved. Find out more about our other spaces here.
