Elsdale Floating classroom

The Elsdale ll is a wide beam canal boat operated by Groundwork South. Established in 2006 as the West London Floating Classroom, the Elsdale ll provides educational and recreational opportunities to local primary schools, youth and adult community groups, as well as being available for hire for corporate events.

Following a recent renovation a new programme of funding and activities is being assembled for the Elsdale. We are open for hire and looking for sponsorship or funding for community programmes as we hope to build up our education programme again to continue the legacy of the Elsdale I which was the original floating classroom for boaters children in the early 1900s.

Sponsorship could take the form of an education programme for a particular area or topic, block corporate bookings or contracts for our availability at marketing or festival events on the canal.

The Elsdale holds 40 passengers and has a fully equipped kitchen, toilet, including disabled facilities, and has a lift for accessibility. Whilst we hope to be able to offer our own education programme in the future, at the moment the vessel is available to hire by schools or groups for a learning day with a difference and for corporate or social events.

Trips can be arranged from various embarkation points along the Grand Union Canal to the West of London.

Contact us to discuss requirements.
The Elsdale is based in the West of London on the Grand Union canal.
