Groundwork Wales Partnership ‘Future Steps’ awarded National Lottery Development Funding
Groundwork Wales has been awarded a development grant from the National Lottery Community Fund Sustainable Steps – Green Careers Programme, for the ‘Future Steps’ programme that it is developing in partnership with RSPB Cymru, Open University, Disability Can Do, Cynnal Cymru and Prince’s Trust Cymru.
The Sustainable Steps Green Careers Programme aims to help young people, aged between 16 and 30, in Wales, into green careers that help reduce carbon emissions, restore nature and help us adapt to our changing climate.
The funding is focused on providing support to young people with disabilities and, or, young people from ethnically minoritised communities to encourage diversity in green careers.
The ‘Future Steps’ programme is a collaborative approach which will raise awareness of green skills and green career opportunities with thousands of young people in south Wales, through coaching, volunteering, skills development and access to a diverse range of paid work experience placements. Future Steps will also support employers across all sectors to engage with young people from diverse backgrounds.

We are delighted that our partnership approach has attracted development funding from the National Lottery Community Fund. We’ve worked hard to build a partnership offer that’s truly grounded in our vision of supporting young people into sustainable jobs for the future, supporting the climate and nature emergencies, and upskilling future generations for green jobs.
We have a long track record in this space and are really excited to be working with so many brilliant organisations on our shared aims.
