STATEMENT – Our Departure From X (Formally Twitter)

Here at Groundwork Greater Manchester, our values shape everything we do.

We care deeply for the people we work with, showing care and championing a more socially just world in everything that we do. This commitment has led us to the decision to leave the social media platform, X.

Recent shifts on the platform have raised significant concerns about the spread of hate speech and misinformation, and our teams have experienced the real-world, negative effects this has on the communities we serve.

By leaving X, we’re making a stand for equity and against injustice, demonstrating our dedication to protecting marginalized communities in all aspects of our work – including our online presence.

Groundwork Greater Manchester have closed its main Twitter account as of the 29^th of November 2024, with all associated accounts terminated by the end of April 2025 at the latest.

We will continue to connect with supporters and partners on other online platforms, where we can create a more compassionate, inclusive, and sustainable community, both online and in-person.
