“They give us tips which lead us to a good place” – Nathaniel’s Story
Over the past six months, Nathaniel has been part of our SAFE Achievement Coaching project at Manchester Communications Academy, which encourages young people to open up about their experiences and realise their potential through both individual and group sessions.

When Nathaniel started the Achievement Coaching programme, he felt like he was lacking in motivation and struggled to pay attention in class. Youth Workers Suraiya, Carlos and Norris encouraged their mentees to learn vital skills, such as teamwork and confidence, through outdoor activities like football and basketball, and groups trips to places like Total Ninja and rock climbing.

Through these sessions, Nathaniel began to learn about perseverance and going the extra mile to achieve his goals. The mentors also provided him with useful tips for ignoring hateful comments instead of retaliating, helping Nathaniel to feel more in control of situations.
The mentors are really kind, they help us out so that we won’t end up in a bad position
