Our work in Rochdale
Rochdale, in the north east of Greater Manchester, is within easy reach of Manchester city centre and at the foothills of the South Pennines. It has a rich and diverse history and culture.
Rich with community identity, spirit and the birthplace of the co-operative movement, we deliver support services across the borough with a focus on Kirkholt, Spotland and Middleton, creating solutions that put power in local hands, creating skills and jobs for a greener economy and delivering greenspaces for nature, for climate and for everyone.
Where to find us in Rochdale
You’ll find our teams working at the Spotland Centre delivering our TEAM programme and delivering employment supporting from the Turning Point offices in St Chad’s Court.

Climate Resilient Communities
Helping make homes more resilient in Littleborough and Wardleworth
We’re working in partnership on an innovative project where homes receive a full climate resilience plan which looks at energy efficiency and flood resilience.
Supporting Deeplish Community Association to take action for climate & nature
We’ve been working closely with Deeplish Community Association supporting them to develop their Climate and Sustainability Roadmap and Action Plan.
Supporting the development of new community greenspaces
We’re supporting community groups in Rochdale to apply for Green Spaces Funding and make their greenspace projects a reality.
Retrofitting homes for the future
We’re working with partners to make homes in Rochdale more efficient, engaging residents in the retrofit journey and conducting retrofit assessments.
Improving biodiversity on farms to reduce flood risk
We’ve planted over 8,000 trees on private land near Hollingworth Lake and will be working over the next 10-years to establish a diverse and rich woodland.
Enhancing green skills & improving neighbourhoods
The Green Team apprenticeship scheme helps address the high number of unemployed young people in the Rochdale borough whilst also tackling unsightly public places.
Delivering green skills training through greenspace improvements in Kirkholt
The Kirkholt Ranger Team was made up of residents from the local area who were provided with training so they could enhance greenspaces in Kirkholt.
Connecting communities with Nature, and each other
Throughout 2022, our community workers helped residents from Kirkholt, Falinge and Deeplish reconnect with nature, and each other, following the COVID19 pandemic.
Developing a Green Community Hub at Stoneyfield Park
We’re working in partnership to support residents in Rochdale to develop a Green Community Hub in Stoneyfield Park; Rochdale’s primary town centre green space.
Supporting people to improve their life chances
Tackling fuel poverty
Our Green Doctors help Rochdale residents boost their income and live warm and well in their homes by installing small measures, offering behaviour change advice and supporting them to manage payments.
Employment support for those recovering from addiction
We support people in structured treatment for drug and/ or alcohol use and assist them in securing sustainable paid employment in line with their preferences.
Employment support for people with long-term health conditions
We support people who are disabled, have a long-term health condition or are experiencing low mood to find fulfilling employment.
Supporting young people to reach their goals
The Team programme, delivered in partnership with The Kings Trust, is a 12-week programme which provides young people with the opportunities to recognise, develop and demonstrate a core set of skills, attitudes and personal qualities valued by employers across a wide range of sectors.
