Caitlin was 22 when she joined the Prince’s Trust TEAM Programme in Oldham. She’d previously been working part time at KFC. Caitlin was encouraged by her Mum to join the programme as her Mum recognised that Caitlin was really struggling with her mental health and low confidence.

Caitlin started the programme with little confidence, but quickly built it up over time as she was meeting new people, and engaging in new activities such as wall climbing. She also completed a 2 week work placement doing admin work which was a new experience and environment for her.

“I have learnt the only way to face your fears, is to face them head on and by doing so, let me gain additional insight to the programme.  Without that placement, I might not be where I am now”

Caitlin in her new role as Prince's Trust Assistant Team Leader

Her experience on the programme gave Caitlin the confidence to apply for a role with Groundwork. In November 2023, she was successful in her application for a Prince’s Trust Assistant Team Leader role. Caitlin is now using her new found skills to support her Team Leader, and other young people with similar confidence issues.

Without the help of Prince’s Trust, I wouldn’t have developed as much as I have nor be in the position I am now; feeling confident about myself and the future. They’ve given me an opportunity to fully be myself and for that, I am grateful.
