Alexandra’s Prince’s Trust journey began after her mum saw an advertisement on TV, featuring a young girl improving her future.

Alexandra had struggled with her mental health for many years. This understandably worsened when her mum was sadly diagnosed with breast cancer:

“At some point she will die from it, but it might be a long time thankfully. She wants to make sure I’m ok when she does go so she wants me to do well on this course and better myself, and I want to do it for her”

Taking part in a community project

As part of the TEAM programme, Alexandra and her fellow participants have been working on a community project for Wildbrook Crescent Community Orchard in Oldham.

As part of the project, they’ve been planting potatoes, which will be given to local food banks once harvested. They’ve also cleared the orchard polytunnels to make space for more food growing.

Each participant is also given a role as part of the community project to help enhance their skills. Alexandra was tasked with both a management and a planner role:

“Our task was to plan our days and make sure that everyone had a role to play and was fulfilling it. I feel like everyone’s doing great and they’re all really lovely as well!”

A new opportunity

After the Prince’s Trust TEAM programme Alexandra hoped to start a career with the theatre and become an actress. However, she has since gained employment Clear Channel Media UK as a Trading Executive. Alexandra hopes to continue to build on her skills and make the Prince’s Trust Team even more proud of her:

“The Prince’s Trust has put me back together again as a person and provided me with enough key skills, qualifications and opportunities to get a job that I couldn’t even imagine myself landing. I only hope I can continue to do their work justice in my new job”
