Skills Bootcamps in the Green Economy
Duration: March 2025
Background
We’ve been helping people learn new skills and become better equipped to access work, or further training or education, for over thirty years, prioritising those who are marginalised or at risk of exclusion from the labour market.
Our employment specialists work with young people, care leavers, veterans and people with a criminal record, supporting them into jobs, particularly greener jobs.

What we’re doing
We’re working with partner to deliver a number of Skills Bootcamps; flexible courses which last up to 16 weeks, which give people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills and fast-track them to a guaranteed interview with a local employer.
Our Skills Bootcamp focuses on jobs in the green economy.
Participants will focus either on construction, developing skills in joinery, plumbing, plastering, and retrofit skills, or their course will focus on energy efficiency, developing skills to become an energy advisor.
We’re delivering our Skills Bootcamps with serving prisoners in HMP Forest Bank, with the general public in Stockport and running our energy efficiency Skills Bootcamp from our office in Ashton.
Skills Bootcamps are fully funded for anyone aged 19+ who is:
- Employed either full-time or part-time
- Unemployed
- Self-employed
- A serving prisoner due to be released within 6 months of completion of a Skills Bootcamp and those on temporary release
Thanks to our funders
This training has been made possible thanks to Greater Manchester Combined Authority securing funding to deliver skills bootcamps, which form part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee, helping everyone gain skills for life.
