Rag Revival – Reducing Textile Waste
Duration: September 2025
Background
Rag Revival will educate residents about the impact of textile overconsumption, encouraging textile waste to be upcycled into crafts and creations.
At the same time, residents from across Greater Manchester will learn basic sewing skills empowering them to live more sustainability, reduce their carbon emissions and contribute to a more circular economy.

What we’re doing
- We’re running 60 workshops over a 12-month period in Manchester, Trafford, Stockport & Salford.
- Each session will teach up to 12 participants new skills around basic sewing (how to do easy fixes on clothing) produce crafts and creations using textile waste.
- Each session will engage participants in conversations about sustainability and the circular economy, encouraging reflection of current behaviours and a move towards positive action.
- We will be using textile waste from our Working Wardrobe project and partners throughout the delivery of the project.
