Background

Thanks to funding from the Co Op Bank, Friends of the Earth are creating a network of community gardeners all over the UK to increase local green spaces for residents. Groundwork Greater Manchester have been chosen to work in the areas of Belle Vue and West Gorton, with West Gorton Community park acting as the central hub for activities.

What we’re doing

Our goal is to create a mixture of 50 smaller and larger green spaces over the next few years, giving local people more access to nature and inviting them to engage and connect.

As part of this work, we’ve hired a Postcode Gardener. Lizzie will act as a central hub for the community to share ideas. Lizzie will also facilitate the creation of green spaces, and encourage residents to become involved with local activities.
