In Our Nature

Duration: April 2021-April 2025
Background
In Our Nature is a National Lottery Climate Action funded project designed to support people across Manchester to take climate action at home and in their communities. The project aspires to create a healthy, green and socially just city, where everyone can thrive.
Groundwork Greater Manchester are working alongside Manchester Climate Change Agency, Hubbub, Amity, the Tyndall Centre for Climate Research and Manchester City Council to support over 50 community-led projects.
Harnessing the partnerships experiences and expertise, we are working with communities across Manchester, highlighting the connections between the climate crisis and practical, local actions. Showcasing how to reduce carbon emissions, save money, and learn new skills.
This National Lottery funding for In Our Nature presents an opportunity to make a huge difference to the everyday lives of Manchester residents. Not only will the projects tackle climate change, but many will also have the added benefit of helping people save money in the face of the rising cost of living crisis.
Samantha Nicholson, Director at Manchester Climate Change Agency

What we’re doing

Groundwork will be supporting communities in areas of Manchester to develop their ideas on how to tackle climate change.
- Our Green Doctors will be on hand to offer advice on cutting household bills and energy usage
- Our community and youth workers will support groups to develop and get their climate action ideas off the ground
