Learn free green skills in Bilborough, Nottingham

We are offering Nottingham residents the opportunity to gain free green skills at a new outdoors community space.
‘The Little Walled Garden’ on St Martin’s Road in Bilborough is an allotment space that we want to transform into a community hub, offering activities for the whole family. To get the area ready, we are offering free green skills training.
Each participant will receive two days of learning, outdoor working, exploring interests and expanding on existing skills. Upon completion, there is further help available including employment support, volunteering opportunities, and training to build on the skills learned.
Jo Phelan, Head of Environment at Groundwork Five Counties, says: “This is such a great opportunity for people to learn new skills and work together to achieve something amazing.
“Support is given on a 1-2-1 basis and in small groups, so you’ll have a lot of support from our coaches. You’ll get to meet new people, build up your confidence, find out what you’re good at and interested in, and learn the tricks of the trade from our environmental team.
“You’ll learn all about looking after a green space and DIY, including sustainable gardening, soil quality, biodiversity and wildlife, making and fixing garden decor and much more. By working together, you will help create a community space for everyone to enjoy and be proud of.
“Whether you’re new at outdoors work or want to reconnect with the joy of working in nature, this is for you. It is open to adults of all ages, in or out of work, from any background and ability. We are very excited about this project and are sure our participants will really enjoy it.
“We’d encourage you to get signed up quickly as we have limited space, and you don’t want to miss out!”
