How to transplant seedlings

Transplanting Seedlings
Transplanting seedlings refers to moving your seedlings to a larger pot (potting up) or to the plants final position in the garden, raised bed or container. This gives them more space to grow, This is also known as ‘pricking out’. The seedlings should have a fairly well establish root system, albeit small, ensuring they have access to the appropriate nutrients.
Top tip: It is important to be careful when moving your seedlings. Avoid touching the stem and true leaves, and if you have one, a ‘dibber’ is a handy tool to use but not essential. (It’s a long pointed stick that pokes identical holes into the soil to create the perfect place to plant seeds, seedlings, cuttings and small bulbs).
They are usually made from wood, metal, or plastic, and vary in their widths. Different dibbers will have a range of handle styles, including straight, T-shaped and D-shaped.
