Last chance to get free energy-saving advice in Cambridge!
Community charity, Groundwork is urging households across Cambridgeshire to get set for winter and take advantage of free energy efficiency advice ahead of the project coming to a close in September

Groundwork Green Doctors are energy efficiency experts who provide one-to-one support to individuals and households experiencing fuel poverty by offering practical guidance on energy saving, behaviour change tips and referrals to other local support, including debt advice and food banks.
The service is free of charge and their impartial advice is a lifeline to many during the current cost-of-living crisis, with an increasing number of beneficiaries facing the dilemma of having to choose between heating and eating. In 2023, Green Doctors have seen increased demand for their services across Cambridgeshire with close to 220 visits taking place, helping beneficiaries reduce energy and water usage. According to the charity National Energy Action (NEA,) the total number of UK households in fuel poverty increased from around 4.5 million in October 2021 to 6.5 million during winter 2023/24.
There is so much we can do to help people reduce their energy spend and support them with other concerns. It’s great to see the immediate effects in people’s homes that the Green Doctor service can bring and we encourage people to get in touch ahead of September to reap the benefits of the advice on offer.
