“When I look how far I’ve come it’s so rewarding to myself” – Jackson’s Story

Jackson is getting his life back on the right track following a 9 month prison sentence.
After the pandemic hit, Jackson made some bad decisions due to his involvement with a trouble causing group of people.
“I committed a crime which resulted in me having a 9.5 month prison sentence at HMP Forest Bank prison. It was here I met with Jade from Groundwork and I enrolled on a 6 week Construction course where I was involved in a mixture of practical & group learning classroom based activities.”

During this course, Jackson was introduced to a variety of construction based skills and knowledge. Having done plumbing in college, he was keen to learn more about the trade and, after his release from prison, he kept in touch with Jade and went on the pass his CSCS course.
Jackson is now employed by Morgan Sindall as a labourer on our North Manchester General Hospital project and is thriving in his new role.
“When I originally sat the Groundwork course I thought “nothing will come of this” as most do. Now when I look how far I’ve come in such a short space of time it’s so rewarding to myself.”
