SEND Schools – Groundwork East

At our Memorial garden site we can provide safe, nurturing, calm and engaging nature based educational support for young people with SEND requirements in the Luton area. Our specialised programme can be tailored to each group and focuses on our senses in nature through hands on gardening and light crafts.

Getting in touch with nature and gardening has been proven time and time again to be hugely beneficial to mental health, and in this age of screens, even more so. (Read the full article here: RHS) Gardening at any skill level is restorative, it can have immediate as well as long term effects, and on our courses for young people with SEND requirements it can help in these key areas:
- Teaching self regulation
- Allowing space for big feelings
- Encouraging individuality
- Developing patience

- Promoting a healthy llifestyle
- Improving social skills
- Supporting cognitive development
