Energy advice fair provides Fuel for Thought

With the weather turning cold, more households are struggling to pay their energy bills and keep warm. Two charities are collaborating to bring a free energy advice fair to Leicester on Wednesday 23rd October, helping people stay warm for less.
Charities Groundwork Five Counties and National Energy Action (NEA) are hosting their first ‘Fuel for Thought’ energy advice fair at Wesley Hall Community Centre on Wednesday 23rd October from 10am – 1pm.
The event is free to attend on a drop-in basis. It brings together a mix of local and national charities and organisations that give advice tailored to individuals’ needs, interests and circumstances.
From maximising income and debt advice, to making an appointment for an energy expert to visit your home and install free energy-saving measures, the fair is a one-stop-shop for all things utilities and money.
Lena, a Project Development Coordinator at NEA, says: “As energy prices continue to rise, we understand the growing concern people have about managing their bills. That’s why we’ve brought together a range of energy advice services for this event – to ensure everyone gets the support they need to stay warm and safe in their homes this winter.”
Debra Laking, Partnership and Delivery Manager at Groundwork Five Counties, adds: “Each year we see more people forced to make the impossible decision between heating or eating. If you are struggling, our event can make a huge difference to your finances, health and comfort.
“We look forward to working with NEA on delivering this fair and future events for the people of Leicester to benefit from.”
Both organisations have been long supporting the fight against fuel poverty, which an estimated 6 million UK households are in. NEA defines fuel poverty as when a household spends 10% of its income on keeping its home at a satisfactory heating level.
