Delivery Strand Grants Awarded
The Delivery Strand aims to help organisations to a) continue delivering and develop, or b) start to deliver, projects that aim to prevent and respond to health inequalities in Greenwich. The strand aims to support organisations across the borough that possess the knowledge, skills and capacity to deliver projects that tackle health inequalities.
The work funded on this programme aligns with the Greenwich Health and Wellbeing Strategy, which sets out the mental and physical health and well-being priorities for the next five years in the borough. More information can be found here.

Round 1 Recipients
We received a total of 67 applications, of which 25 were awarded funding, totalling £542,189. All unsuccessful applications were given bespoke feedback and offered a follow-up support call. All applicants were also asked to submit feedback on the application process to help improve and develop the process for future rounds.
The following groups were awarded funding in August 2024:
Avant-Gardening CIC – Rainbow Creatives: An artist’s collective whose work investigates environmental, social and sustainability issues, by engaging diverse communities through art, gardening, play and community activities. Funding will be used for their ‘Rainbow Creatives’ project, targeting those aged 50+ in the LGBTQ+ community in Greenwich with lived experience of mental health issues. This project runs art-based workshops to positively impact on wellbeing and mental health, and has been co-created with participants. Avant-Gardening CIC trustees and staff are majority LGBTQ+, women, with lived experience of mental health problems, representing the communities they aim to support. Bexley, Greenwich and Dartford HE CIC – Physical education for HE in Greenwich: Newly set-up organisation that provides home-educated (HE) young people with the opportunity to access physical education and socialising opportunities, to improve their physical and mental health. Funding will be used to provide sports classes via Power Mobile Gym in Woolwich, with the aim of reducing isolation and improving confidence and independence through physical exercise. CHAMPIONS 4 CHANGE WELLBEING C.I.C. – Boxercise Programme: This organisation connects with NHS Social Prescribing Teams to deliver structured Physical Therapy for people with Type 2 Diabetes using Boxercise, focusing on Afro-Caribbean and South Asian communities. Funding will be used to provide residents of Glyndon, Plumstead, Abbey Wood and Woolwich, who have been referred to their service, with a Boxercise Programme, as well as providing healthy snacks and food parcels post-session. Citizens of the World Choir – Sing well, Feel Well: An open-to-all, non-auditioned choir for those aged 19-85, supporting asylum seekers, migrants, those seeking sanctuary; and their allies. Members are often affected by past trauma, immigration issues, racial discrimination, disability and mental health difficulties. Funding will be used to support the running of choir rehearsals and engagement, online rehearsals, staff costs, travel and food for refugee members, mental health support and signposting. Clod Ensemble – Performing Medicine Programme: Organisation works to address inequalities in how art is created and used in the health sector. Education and talent development programmes address structural barriers to arts careers experienced by young women and non-binary people of Global Majority or working-class backgrounds. Funding will be used to coordinate partnerships between participants and Greenwich communities, the NHS, Higher Education Institutions and arts organisations. Bursaries will support participants in developing their creative health practice to practically tackle health inequalities in Greenwich. Community Empowerment and Support Initiatives (CESI) – Health and Wellbeing Support for Ex-British Gurkha Community: Organisation is run by and for the Nepalese community, specifically Ex-British Gurkha veterans. It supports elderly community members to tackle social isolation, depression and health problems, which are often worsened by language and cultural barriers. Funding will be used for a new project, focused on improving the physical and mental wellbeing of beneficiaries through; yoga and keep fit classes, workshops on healthy eating and healthier living, alcohol and drug misuse, sleep-management, digital literacy training and a healthcare access drop-in service. Community Training Centre (CTC) – Greenwich Health and Well Being Project: Organisation empowers individuals from diverse backgrounds who are disproportionately impacted by health disparities in Greenwich, by providing practical skills training, qualifications, and opportunities for personal and professional development. Funding will be used to develop a new project to empower individuals to address their mental health concerns. It will fund a range of workshops, training sessions, and the provision of DIY kits. It will target individuals who are unemployed, ex-offenders and asylum seekers, who face challenges accessing health resources and further mental health support. Creating Ground CIC – Keep On Moving: Organisation is run by and for migrant women from ethnic minority communities who are socially and economically disadvantaged. Facilitate skills sharing among different groups and use creativity and the arts to empower individuals to share their experiences, express their feelings and overcome difficulties. Funding will be used to develop their project which provides dance sessions and yoga classes to enhance the physical, mental, and social wellbeing of migrant women. It offers a safe and inclusive environment where they can connect, exercise, and alleviate the stresses associated with daily challenges, particularly for those living in vulnerable circumstances. English for Action (EFA) London – ESOL for Refuge: Organisation supports migrants, refugees and people seeking asylum, particularly those who have low levels of English. Deliver free Learning & Action groups that combine English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) lessons with community organising and integration support, in order for migrants to gain access to the social, economic and political benefits. Funding will be used for a project that supports beneficiaries through a programme of trauma-informed education and mental health support, breaking barriers through English classes, drama workshops and a mental health support group. EFA London trustees and staff consist of migrants, women, BAME, previous participants, and people with English as an additional language, representing those they aim to support. European Reminiscence Network – Developing reminiscence projects: Organisation aims to support people living with dementia and their carers. It aims to promote best practice and to share experiences across communities, helping beneficiaries to better understand the health needs of those with dementia. Funding will be used to develop their work in reminiscence in dementia care, to support those whose sense of identity and value is threatened by dementia. It will tackle stress, social isolation, anxiety and depression faced by its beneficiaries by running weekly support sessions. It will also run a group-led follow-on project for continued support. Fresh Chances LTD – Free Holiday Food and Fun Health Activities: Black-led organisation that aims to provide a community-focused, fun learning space with activities and projects that aim to tackle health inequalities in young people, SEND individuals and ethnic minority groups. Funding will be used for the expansion of their project, which tackles ethnic minority health inequality arising from inadequate healthy food awareness. It will offer ethnic meals for communities within Glyndon by providing healthy community meals and health and wellbeing workshops. Greenwich Health and Wellbeing Strategy Area of Impact: Start Well
Jaydee Fitness (CIC) – Kids Club and Parents Dance Fitness Class: Organisation supports mothers in Greenwich by running regular exercise sessions to empower women to feel confident and improve their physical and mental health. Funding will be used to expand their work and pilot a new fitness project for children and young people, alongside dance fitness classes for their parents. The Kids Club will consist of a range of activities and games to aid child development in emotional wellbeing, motor skills, self-confidence, spatial awareness, creativity, team building, social skills, and communication skills. Moorings Neighbourhood Forum – Moorings Healthier Together: Group of Moorings residents, businesses, services and community groups who have come together to benefit the community, by discussing local issues and priorities, crating positive change by engaging with residents. Funding will be used to continue delivering a mental and physical health support project to residents in Thamesmead Moorings. The project covers; healthy eating/ cooking, growing/ gardening, dental health pop-up workshops and community trips to improve wellbeing. Moorings Residents Community Group and Friends of Hawksmoor – Community Health and Fitness Sessions: Group is made up of local Thamesmead and Abbey Wood residents. Many users come from low-income families, who live in overcrowded housing. Users come together in a safe, welcoming environment to access physical exercise activities and cooking classes. Funding will be used to continue delivering work that supports families cope the cost of living crisis by providing access to healthy meals and cooking classes, physical exercise activities, and supporting them to learn new skills in how to being active. Neighbourhood Doulas – Maternal Health Project: Organisation is a by-and-for grassroots, maternal health charity dedicated to supporting pregnant women who are disproportionately affected by health inequalities. They provide free, holistic, and personalised antenatal, labour/ birth and postnatal care. Funding will be used for the continuation and development of maternal health support in the most deprived areas of Greenwich. The project aims to provide comprehensive, practical, trauma-informed continuity of care to marginalised groups. Funding will contribute toward supporting vulnerable pregnant women who are birthing alone through education, and their antenatal, labour/birth and postnatal period, and also towards project management costs. Power2 Ltd – Early Intervention Mental Health and Wellbeing Support: Organisation supports children and young people impacted by poor mental health by offering early-intervention support to prevent escalation. Specifically work with schools in areas of high deprivation and/or those located in areas characterised by inequality. Funding will enable the extension of support that they offer to children and young people impacted by poor mental health, particularly in underserved areas like Plumstead, Charlton and Woolwich. They offer group intervention, peer-to-peer mentoring and adapted education materials. Majority of Power2 Ltd trustees, senior management team and staff have lived experience of the issues they seek to address, representing those they aim to support. Quaggy Development Trust – Healthy and Affordable Food Project: Organisation provides support for Greenwich children and families by running a day care, family hub and children’s services centre to provide family support, counselling support, activities, courses and health sessions. Funding will be used to support their existing Coldbath & Orchard Pantry, which targets those who are struggling with the cost of living, and enables them access items that may otherwise be unaffordable. They also educate families and individuals across west Greenwich about healthy eating through healthy cookery clubs, developing a healthy recipe book to share with participants and running nutrition sessions. South London Counselling and Support Services – African Faith Group Mental Health Project: BAME-led organisation that works with African and African Caribbean churches, faith groups and communities of the Christian denominations to identify and deliver support to these communities. They provide impartial and confidential services in guidance and free therapeutic counselling services for children, young people, and their families. Funding will allow the development of their project to deliver therapeutic counselling and support services for Black faith groups, children and adults age 13-29 years, and support for their families. Funding will also support a drop-in service to enable young people with a diagnosed mental health problem to overcome social and communication problems through peer support, mentoring and counselling. South London Special League – Multisports for Disabled People: Organisation provides opportunities for young disabled people and adults to improve their lives through sport, to increase their opportunities to socialise and gain new experiences in order to contribute towards improved health and wellbeing, physical fitness, self-esteem and raised aspirations. Funding will be used to support the continuation of their Multi Sport Club for disabled people and Greenwich Powerchair Football Club, to deliver a range of adapted sports activities, to support a range of disabled people who experience high levels of social isolation. The AHOY Centre – Healthy Active Lifestyles for Young People and Disabled People: Organisation offers opportunities for disadvantaged, at-risk and disabled young people to build life skills through sailing, rowing, powerboating and other activities on and off the water. Funding will support their existing project, which provides an inclusive environment where disabled people can develop, by having access to; on water rowing, sailing and powerboating, indoor rowing, land based sporting activities, open air spaces and physical activity. Sessions welcome disabled people aged 18+ with physical and learning difficulties, as well as offering peer mentoring support. Greenwich Health and Wellbeing Strategy Area of Impact: Be Well
The Carers Social Group – Personal Training for Carers: Group provides social opportunities for carers of learning disabled and autistic adults in Greenwich. The group is volunteer-run by-and-for carers and aims to create a supportive network that connects, informs and empowers carers. Funding will enable members to receive personal training sessions to improve their physical and mental health. It aims to give carers the tools, motivation and confidence to commit, long-term, to a fitness programme that suits the individual and their needs, around the flexibility of their caring demands. The Change Foundation – Young Mums Sports Network: Organisation aims to change the lives of marginalised young people through the power of sport. It supports young mums, predominantly from ethnic minority backgrounds and low socio-economic background, from ages 16 – 25 and their young children. Funding will be used to support a project that provides a safe and supportive environment for young mums to engage in physical activity and reconnect with nature, knowing that their young children are safe and close by. It will be delivered through weekly exercise sessions, both indoors and outdoors, a range of multi-sport activities, guidance on nutrition, mental health, future planning, and connection to nature. Tramshed Arts Ltd – Art and Drama Therapy Group for Young People: Organisation provides performing arts programmes for young people and adults with learning disabilities, and houses numerous community groups. They aim to create change through creative experiences that remove barriers and connect communities. Funding will be used to run the ‘Whatever makes You Happy’ group, which uses drama and art therapy to support young people with acute and complex mental health issues. The programme supports young people with Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) to have the best start in life, enables friendships and emotional regulation, creates resilience and improves mental health. Volunteering Matters – Family Mentors Greenwich: Organisation turns local knowledge into action by working with volunteers and partners to build stronger communities for all. They set up volunteering opportunities that aim to overcome adversity, tackle isolation, improve physical and mental health, develop skills and ensure young people can lead change. Funding will be used to support Family Mentors Greenwich, which utilises a volunteer-led model to provide peer support to parents and families across the borough who are struggling to live happy, healthy lives. This primarily focuses on supporting those with greatest need, such as single parents, young carers, blended families, families living with health conditions, refugees and migrants and those referred for support from social services. XLP – Healthy Eating and Community Doorstep Sports Programme: Organisation supports young people with issues surrounding poverty, lack of access to services and lack of educational support at home. Support young people through education, mentoring, employability, community youth work, sports and the arts. Funding will allow their mobile youth centres to travel to Abbey Wood, Charlton and Briset Park Estate to provide a base for free high-quality, youth work and a sports programme. Their doorstep community sports programme will provide accessible opportunities for young people to take part in informal sports within their local community, which run directly on estates.
